Colter earns NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award

Football Program Earns School Record 12 NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The Baker University football program earned 12 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, a school record. The award was announced following the season at the NAIA Football National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The 12 Baker Scholar-Athletes were Alex Baird, Tanner Clark, Logan DeGraeve, Jake Heller, Sheldon Jacks, Micheal Lisher, Justin McCandless, Gunnar McKenna, Colter Schacher, Connor Stremel, Daniel Sumler and Micheal Thomason. The Wildcats tied for second-most scholar-athletes in the country with Grand View (Iowa), while Taylor University (Ind.), led all schools with 14 Scholar-Athletes. There were a total of 319 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete
award winners.

To be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports
information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point
average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
